WHAT WAS THE CREATIVE INSPIRATION FOR YOUR WEDDING?
A mix of our personalities. Simple but thoughtful. Warm and welcoming.

WHAT WAS YOUR COLOR PALETTE?
Dusty blue with pops of burgundy and gold.

HOW DID YOU PERSONALIZE YOUR WEDDING AND MAKE IT ABOUT THE TWO OF YOU?
We both fell in love with a hexagon-style arch we saw online and decided to build our own. We used our arch as the focal point for the rest of our décor. It was rustic and modern, just like us!
WHAT WAS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF YOUR WEDDING DATE AND/OR LOCATION?
Four years ago, we bought our first home in La Crescent right on the Applefest parade route and have since become La Crescent–obsessed. We wanted to show our friends why we love this area, and the views of the apple orchard from our venue on our wedding day made that really clear.

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY?
Order less food!

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WERE GLAD YOU INSISTED ON?
Picking a venue that was dog friendly. It really is all about our fur baby, Darryl.

WHAT WAS THE MOST CHALLENGING OBSTACLE YOU OVERCAME WHEN PLANNING YOUR WEDDING?
Like most 2020 weddings, Covid-19 threw a curve ball at us. Our original wedding date was May 1, 2020, and at the end of March, I was on the phone with our venue in tears. All the information in the news was so conflicting. Will this be done by Easter? What about a second wave? It was a lot of information to try to process in not a lot of time, but our venue had an opening on August 1, and we decided to go for it. It seemed more promising than May, and thankfully all of our other vendors were available that day and willing to switch for us. As August started to get closer, we were facing the same situation all over again. Our options were to reschedule for a second time or do some tweaking to make it work. We decided to make it work.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT IN YOUR CEREMONY AND WEDDING RECEPTION?
They always tell you that the day goes by quickly, and that is definitely an understatement! Our favorite part of the day was the wagon ride through the orchard after our ceremony. It felt like, for an hour, everything slowed down. We loved being able to sit back, laugh, sing, and drink Busch Light with our bridal party.

IF YOU COULD TELL COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING ONE PIECE OF ADVICE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Right after you get engaged, write down what is most important to you, and make sure you do what you want. It is easy to veer off track in all the craziness.

WHAT DID YOU OBSESS OVER THAT YOU REALIZED IN THE END DID NOT MATTER?
Weather, but it ended up being beautiful.
