Unlike most weddings, this was the second time we married each other. We met on vacation in the Mediterranean in 2012. Spending time together took some creativity, since I lived in Italy, Jenna in Ohio, and the Atlantic Ocean was in between us.

Our solution to a long-distance, two-year relationship was a small courthouse wedding. Right after that, we started preparations for our real wedding and reception in Jenna’s hometown. We wanted to match the date of our courthouse and church wedding, so we had one anniversary day. We also wanted our reception at The Waterfront Restaurant.

Our wedding was perfect! The sun was shining, and we were surrounded by our nearest and dearest. Our goal was to make it simple and elegant, with a focus on creating a fun and memorable experience for everyone. Since many of our guests traveled from around the United States and Europe, we wanted to give a taste of Wisconsin and highlight the best of La Crosse. 

Our ceremony was at Jenna’s childhood church, Blessed Sacrament Parish. The church was accented with Italian ivy and evergreens from Village Market Floral to bring out the church’s natural beauty and tie in an Italian element. 

We supplemented catered appetizers with chocolate malt balls from the Sweet Shop and cheese curds from Westby. We offered beers from Wisconsin and cake from International Bake Shoppe. We brought in donuts from Brick Oven Bakery and specialty pizza from Pizza Doctors for a surprise late night snack. Our goal was accomplished—everyone talked, ate, laughed, and danced the night away. Who could’ve predicted the amazing dance moves that The Blues Brothers sunglasses inspired? Our wedding was everything we wanted it to be, and our favorite aspect was the fun! TWM
