What was the creative inspiration for your wedding?

We wanted an elegant and intimate wedding with a laid-back and fun backyard vibe.

What was your color palette?

A neutral color palette with an emphasis on outdoor string lighting, a big white tent, and champagne.

How did you personalize your wedding and make it about the two of you?

Before the ceremony, Jason and I hid inside, sipped champagne, and watched our guests arrive. It was the perfect way to ease our nerves and spend time together before things got busy. The two of us stood at our ceremony without bridesmaids and groomsmen, and we wrote our own vows.

What was the significance of your wedding date and/or location?

The location was my parents’ house, my childhood home.

What was your favorite moment in your ceremony and wedding reception?

My brother married us, and that was our favorite moment of our ceremony. He did such an amazing job.

What is one thing you were glad you insisted on?

Hiring a wedding planner. It was important to us that my parents felt like guests rather than hosts. Nancy coordinated everything flawlessly, and not a single detail was missed.

If you could tell couples planning their wedding one piece of advice, what would it be?

If a wedding tradition feels forced, awkward, or insignificant to you as a couple, don’t do it! There are no rules.

What was the most challenging
obstacle you overcame when planning your wedding?

We originally planned to get married New Year’s Eve 2020 and had to postpone due to the pandemic. We switched from a very formal winter wedding with 200+ guests to a backyard wedding with 80 guests.
