What was the overall creative inspiration for your wedding? 
My mom is a florist and has been drawing in inspiration for over 30 years from different weddings, venues, and flowers. Although she has seen many fun ideas, we have the same style and rarely stray away from timeless designs. Luckily, I was born and raised in a beautiful old home with a magnificent backyard that made the perfect classic venue.

What was your color palette? 
Neutrals, white, cream.

What was the significance of your wedding date and/or location? 
My entire life, I dreamed of having my wedding in my parents’ backyard. We never once considered a different location. Our family likes to celebrate family weddings before and after the big day, so we chose a long weekend. It was also fun because it was directly between my birthday (September 7) and Casey’s birthday (August 29).

What was your favorite moment in your ceremony and reception?
As we exited the church, we stopped and shared some special moments alone. We were overflowing with love for each other and all of the love we felt from our closest friends and family. Then, there was our first dance, to “This Must Be the Place” by Talking Heads.

Would you change anything if you could do it over again? If so, what?
We would have kept the bees away from the bartenders.

What advice do you have for other couples planning their weddings?
Choose the foods and drinks that have been important to your relationship. Sharing what we love with our guests was so rewarding.
