Meredith and Travis

One November evening, a boy named Travis asked a girl named Meredith to marry him. Thus began the road to our wedding, and the coordination of the biggest event of our lives. Our goal was to create an occasion that was simple and laidback, yet elegant and fun. With a lot of help from our wonderful friends and family, we succeeded!

For my dress, I wanted something simple and elegant. When I walked into Mestad’s, I immediately saw a dress I liked on one of the mannequins. I told mom I had to try it on. It had clean lines and a “trumpet” shape and was fitted with Swarovski crystals around the waist and in the buttons down the back of the dress. It was just what I wanted.

We had our reception at the Rochester Golf and Country Club because of its beautiful, natural setting. Since I’m not creatively inclined, our flowers were our main decoration. Pat Heck from Le Jardin European Style Floral assured us that our flowers would be so beautiful we wouldn’t need anything else. She succeeded by creating a lovely assortment of dark and medium pink flowers mixed with green hydrangeas—arrangements that perfectly accented the navy bridesmaid dresses I’d selected.

On the day of our wedding, everything went as planned. The weather was gorgeous and there were no major mishaps. The food was great; the cake was delicious. Our favorite part of the wedding, however, was definitely the dueling pianos. We’d been to the Shout House in Minneapolis a few times and loved it. But, it wasn’t until a friend of ours mentioned that they also do wedding receptions that we knew this was even an option. It was a hit! I never saw the dance floor empty that night, and there was nothing the pianists couldn’t play. People kept telling us what a great idea the dueling pianos was and how much fun they were having, which is exactly what we wanted. I didn’t want the night to end! It truly was the best day of our lives.
