Kyle and I began exchanging looks during meetings at work, looks that later led to our first date in May 2015. Kyle was the ultimate gentleman, holding the doors open for me, taking us to a romantic dinner, and ensuring we got home safely, I knew he was a keeper!

Speed up to November 2016; it was a chilly, rainy morning, and we had planned to hike at Quarry Hill, so we bundled up and made the best of it. Little did I know he had a ring in his pocket the whole time! He took me to his favorite lookout and got down on one knee to propose. In complete shock, I cried, laughed, and said, “Yes!”

In search for the perfect venue, we visited the Barns of Old Glory in St. Charles. The uniqueness and character this venue embodied was exactly what we were looking for. We could easily envision this as our spot. July 15, 2017, soon became a day that meant the world to us!

Our day started with gathering at the barns and trying to stay cool for as long as we could—it was so hot and humid! Kyle and I opted for a first-look (which sort of felt like the calm before the storm). We were able to joke with each other to shake off the nerves. We parted ways feeling more ready than ever to tie the knot!

The ceremony was held in one of the barns, and it was exactly what we envisioned. Gorgeous flowers greeted our guests and an arch with whimsical fabric and more flowers tied it all together. After saying “I do,” exchanging a big smooch, and Kyle doing a jig in front of the crowd, we proceeded with the rest of the celebration. Our hosts and ushers flipped the barn into a cocktail hour for our guests to enjoy music by Brother Music, Sister Rhythm and a refreshing cocktail before the reception.

I’ll never forget walking into the other barn for the reception—the décor and flowers were absolutely stunning! The barn we toured months ago felt so special and romantic. After dinner and heartfelt speeches, we danced our tails off to some bluegrass by the Pistol Whippin Party Penguins. At the end of the night, our cheeks ached from smiling all day! Everything we had planned for the past seven months came full circle, and it was pure bliss!
